Rare Lines Brothers Sportiboy Nursery rocking horse For Sale in the rocking horse attic...
'Pickles' is a really lovely example of a Nursery Rocking Horse by the Lines Brothers. Would make a fabulous unusual Christmas gift!
Quite a rarity, this is the only example of this small size that I am aware of.
He would very much suit displaying with teddybears or Dolls in his end seats.
He has had minimal woodwork during his restoration to include a muscle block & also some replacement spindles to his chairs, in keeping with as they should be. He retains all his original metalwork to his swingstand which hasn't been repainted, just cleaned up, including his bowler caps. One of his chairs is packed underneath on one side where attached to the steel frame to make level. He retains his three original bakerlite type badges which read 'House Furnishers - Biddock & Co Bridgewater & Burnham on Sea'. One to his stand base & the remaining two fixed to the underside of each of his original wood nursery seats.
His glass eyes are original.
He has been fitted with an original Lines brothers Sportiboy saddle which is of age & therefore delicate & suitable for ornamental purpose only. If he is required to be sat on a replica Lines brothers sportiboy saddle can be purchased from a saddler & I am happy to pass on details if need be.
He comes with two fully removable vintage wool saddle cloths, one edge bound with blue ( presently on him) and the other spare one bound with green & s 3 coordinating rosettes to match, should his new owner feel like a change!
The photos below show him with both his matching saddleblanket & also his green rosettes. Both sets pick up the colours from his saddle cloth nicely.
His stirrups are fully removable to enable changing of his saddle cloths.
He is a smaller size nursery rocker and will comfortably fit into the more modest of homes, unlike some of the larger size nursery rockers that need a lot more space to accommodate them.
His measurements are: 37.5" high to his neck.
Overall height including his end seats 41.5"
67" maximum length including chairs.
